Mentor Program For New Realtors

Florida Realty of Miami has a mentor program that is a MUST for new realtors. New being ‘right out of school’ and not new to the company. Most companies that have good training, such as Keyes, Coldwell Banker, Century 21, etc., have a mentor program as well, however, the key difference being that our mentor fee is fair.

Q: Why a mentor?

A: A mentor provides a realtor with someone who is not only going to answer all of your questions and teach you about all the entailed paperwork that goes along with being a realtor, but also supervise you on your first transaction as a real estate agent. Due to the fact that no one has needed a mentor for more than one deal, this is only for the first transaction.  The entire purpose of our online classes and mentor program is to train you to the point where you feel completely confident and comfortable working as a realtor. This will result in both sales for you and sales for the company.

Q: What is Florida Realty’s mentor fee?

A: At Florida Realty of Miami, a new realtor will pay their mentor 30% of commission on their first transaction only – not to exceed $2,500. Therefore, depending on the size of your transaction the $2,500 maximum fee might be a lot less than 30%.

For example, your first transaction is $800,000. The mentor fee of 30% would be $7,200, however, you would be maxed out at $2,500, around 10% in this case.

Q: How does Florida Realty compare to other companies?

A: The majority of companies have abusive mentor programs – that is a fact.  Initially, they start you at 50% commission. Then they take another 50%, that’s 75% of mentor fees taken away for 3 transactions thereafter. This means that Realtors make 25% for 3 deals. Florida Realty has encountered a multitude of realtors who continue to join us from franchise companies precisely for this reason. One realtor shared the story of how they sold a 1 million dollar home on their first transaction. This realtor should’ve made $30,000 commission, however, the competitor kept $23,000 of it! To top it off, this commission split still applied for their next 2 sale transactions as well. We don’t want any new Realtor to have to encounter a situation such as that, therefore we have always stood by our mentor fee cap.

WARNING: If you go to a company that does not have a mentor and they tell you, “Don’t worry, I’ll help you,” run out of the office, you will not regret it. It sounds great, however, it does not work. New realtors need a lot of guidance and help because everything is ‘new’ to them. No broker will be able to stop what he or she is doing to help you with all of the questions you are going to have. You will be forced to ask other realtors for help making you feel like a bother, which in turn will cause you to eventually stop asking. Selling will not be an option because you do not know what you are doing. Then, in time, you will likely quit, just as 83% of new realtors do their first year as a result of having a lack of proper training.

It’s all here!  Call the office to make an appointment and get started. All of the training you need for your new real estate career is available with us. Don’t wait!
